On February 14, Dan Ettinger conducts the Orchestra del Teatro di San Carlo in two richly dramatic musical compositions by Rachmaninov and Rimsky-Korsakov.

The acclaimed pianist, Alexander Malofeev, will join the orchestra in Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto in C minor, op. 18, which is widely considered one of the greatest works of the Romantic era. The concerto features complex and virtuosic piano passages, lush melodies, and emotionally charged themes that showcase the immense skill and artistry of the soloist and the orchestra.

The concert will also feature Rimsky-Korsakov’s Sheherezade, Symphonic Suite, op. 35, a colorful and vivid composition that tells the tale of the Arabian Nights through orchestral music. This beloved classic of the orchestral repertoire is characterized by its exotic scales and harmonies, rich orchestration, and sweeping melodies that evoke the sounds and atmosphere of the Arabian Nights.
