‘Turandot’ in Tel Aviv
In June and July, Dan Ettinger, Music Director of the Israeli Opera, returns to the podium to conduct Puccini’s monumental final opera, Turandot.
This revival of Andrei Șerban’s iconic 1984 production, originally created for the Royal Opera’s tour to the Los Angeles Olympic Arts Festival, features vibrant costume and set designs by Sally Jacobs, choreography by Kate Flatt, and lighting by F. Mitchell Dana. Gadi Schechter directs this revival, with choreography restaged by Alessandra Bareggi.
Ettinger leads an international cast featuring sopranos Elena Mikhailenko and Oksana Nosatova alternating as the icy princess Turandot, with Mikhail Pirogov and Aleksandrs Antonenko as Prince Calaf. Alla Vasilevitsky and Yael Levita share the role of Liù, while Insung Sim and Goderdzi Janelidze appear as Timur.
Mr. Ettinger conducts the performances on June 24, 25, 27, 28, 29, and 30, as well as July 2, 3, 4, 7, and 8.
