‘Rusalka’ at Teatro di San Carlo
Dan Ettinger, Music Director of Teatro di San Carlo, will conduct a captivating new production of Dvořák’s Rusalka at the theater next month.
This new production, led by acclaimed director Dmitri Tcherniakov, offers a contemporary and psychologically rich interpretation of the dark fairy tale. The creative team, featuring Elena Zaytseva (costume design), Gleb Filshtinsky (lighting design), and Alexej Poluboyarinov (video projections), contributes to its striking and provocative visual aesthetic.
The stellar cast features Asmik Grigorian as Rusalka, Adam Smith as the Prince, Ekaterina Gubanova as the Foreign Princess, Gábor Bretz as Vodník, and Anita Rachvelishvili as Ježibaba. The roles of Rusalka’s parents are reimagined in this production, with Peter Hoare as the Gamekeeper and Maria Riccarda Wesseling as the Kitchen Boy.
Performances take place on November 20, 26, December 3, 5 and 7.
