‘Madama Butterfly’ at Royal Opera House
This June and July, Dan Ettinger will return to the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden to conduct Puccini’s iconic Madama Butterfly. Mr. Ettinger made his ROH debut as the conductor for their 2010 production of Rigoletto and has since returned to lead other operatic favorites including Tosca, La traviata, La bohème, Faust and Turandot.
A revival of the stunning production by Moshe Leiser and Patrice Caurier originally seen at Royal Opera House in 2003, this staging of the heartbreaking opera is inspired by 19th-century European images of Japan. The star-studded cast will feature Dinara Alieva and Lianna Haroutounian alternating as Cio-Cio-San, Freddie De Tommaso and Gianluca Terranova alternating as Lieutenant B.F. Pinkerton, Lucas Meachem and Gyula Nagy alternating as Sharpless, Kseniia Nikolaieva and Olesya Petrova alternating as Suzuki, Alexander Kravets as Goro, Jeremy White as Bonze, Rachael Lloyd as Kate Pinkerton and Alan Pingarrón as Prince Yamadori.
Performances will take place on June 14, 18, 21, 23, 24, 27, 30, July 2 and 6.
