Dan Ettinger returns to the Israeli Opera to conduct a powerful new production of Bellini’s I Capuleti e I Montecchi. The tragic love story of Shakespeare’s star-crossed lovers features a new production by Hanan Snir with set design by Roni Toren and costume design by Flina Adamov.

Of the production, Snir remarked: “My goal in our production is not to pretend that Romeo is a female singer playing the role of a man as was customary in the 19th century. I thought the right thing was that the leader of the Montague family is a leader, “That is, Romeo is a woman. Therefore, the conflict between the two families takes on another dimension, because forbidden love is not only between two members of rival families but also between two women.”

Performances will take place on August 12, 14, 16, 18, 20 & 27. Dan Ettinger conducts an outstanding cast, including Alla Vasilevitsky as Giulietta, Tal Bergman as Romeo, Noah Brieger as Capellio, Eitan Drori as Tebaldo, and Vladimir Brown as Lorenzo.
