‘Samson et Dalila’ at Teatro di San Carlo

On September 29, October 2, 6, and 9, Dan Ettinger will return to Napoli to lead performances of Samson et Dalila at the revered Teatro di San Carlo where he will assume the position of Music Director in January of 2023. 

Based on the biblical tale of Samson and Delilah, Camille Saint-Saëns’ lush opera has been regarded as having some of the most beautiful music in the operatic canon including Dalila’s Mon cœur s’ouvre à ta voix which has become one of the most well-known arias in the world.

Damián Szifròn’s production will feature a starry cast that includes Anita Rachvelishvili as Dalila, Brian Jagde as Samson, Ernesto Petti as the High Priest of Dagon, Gabriele Sagona as Abimélech, Roberto Scandiuzzi as the Old Hebrew, Antonio Mezzasalma as the messenger, and Mario Thomas and Sergio Valentino as the two philistines.
